Growing up, he played both football and basketball and eventually decided to completely focus on football as he entered high school.

During his time at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, Marvin Harrison Jr. helped lead the team to three consecutive state championships while setting Philadelphia Catholic League career records with 2,625 receiving yards and 37 receiving touchdowns.

He played with Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord while at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was described as a four-star prospect out of high school and ranked as the nation’s 14th-best receiver recruit. He subsequently received offers from the University of Florida, University of Michigan, Pennsylvania State University, Ohio State University, Louisiana State University, University of Notre Dame, and Texas A&M University and committed to play college football at Ohio State University.

In 2021, he received limited playing time as a freshman behind future first-round NFL draft picks Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

In the 2022 Rose Bowl, Marvin Harrison Jr. made his first career start and caught six passes for 71 yards and three touchdowns in a 48–45 victory over the Utah Utes.

During Ohio State’s pro day for the 2023 NFL Draft, he ran routes for quarterback C. J. Stroud and even though Marvin was ineligible for the draft until 2024, his performance gained more coverage than draft-eligible prospects.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was widely considered to be the best receiver in college football as he entered the 2023 season. He went on to win the Fred Biletnikoff Award after recording over 1,200 yards with 15 touchdowns, including one rushing.

He has been a partner of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.
