Nasa has shared a “stunning” new image captured by its James Webb telescope.
The space agency released a “gift from a past star” – a photograph showing supernova remnant Cassiopeia A (Cas A).
Nasa said that materials for new stars and planets are embedded within gas from the star.
The supernova remnant resembles “a shiny, round ornament ready to be placed in the perfect spot on a holiday tree,” Nasa added.
“This high-resolution look unveils intricate details of the expanding shell of material slamming into the gas shed by the star before it exploded.”
