Death
On 26 December 2023, she died by suicide at the age of 47 after celebrating Christmas with her family. Reportedly, she was discovered unresponsive at her residence in Park Belvedere, North Point, in what appeared to be a suicide using burning charcoal. Her son found her unconscious, and the incident was reported to the police at approximately 1:12 pm. Lai was declared dead after being admitted to Ruttonjee Hospital in Hong Kong. No suicide note was discovered at her residence, and the exact cause of her death remains unconfirmed pending an autopsy. The confirmation of her death came from her first husband, actor and martial artist Kenneth Low (also known as Ken Lo).
