Ronnie O’Sullivan v Zhou Yuelong LIVE: Snooker World Grand Prix score and updates

A mistake by O’Sullivan as he tries to screw the cueball back into baulk off a safety but leaves it way short of the baulk line. A simple pot to the right middle for Zhou but the positional shot is impressive as he’s forced to cannon another red to hold for the black.

Frame four and the first chance goes to the Chinese star. Both players are impressing so far – O’Sullivan with 93 per cent pot success and Zhou with a mammoth 96 per cent. Anything above 90 is very good as a rough guide.

That’s exactly what Zhou, and this match, needed. Calmly clears the colours for a total clearance of 76. Takes full advantage of O’Sullivan’s miss to pinch the frame and narrow the gap to 2-1.

ZHOU YUELONG WINS FRAME THREE!

Zhou picks off reds and eventually only leaves the red up in baulk, near the green pocket as his deficit is reduced to 50-45. Pots the blue but leaves himself hampered by the green on the pot.

Has to get the spider rest out to cue over the green and he’s jabbing down on the cueball but rolls the red in. Leaves a tricky green to left middle to follow but pulls out a pot into the heart of the pocket. He should clear up the colours to win the frame from here now/.

WOW! Where did that come from?! A rare miss from O’Sullivan as a quite straightforward red to the right corner rattles both jaws and stays out. You didn’t see that coming! The break ends at 50.

Zhou has to take advantage now and nick this frame from here. A nice mid-range red to the right corner gets him going.

Oooof! O’Sullivan is feeling this! Flicks the cue through and punches a long, straight red into the right corner pocket. Lovely technique.

He races on to 32 when a split of the pack lands awkwardly. But O’Sullivan pulls out a pot to left middle, bridging over another ball to keep the break alive. Other than that, he’s got the cueball on a string in this break. He’s striding around the table and looks likely to win another frame in one visit.

O’Sullivan has clearly decided to play aggressively today – he’s not turning down many pots so far… The 27-point deficit in the frame is quickly eradicated and he doesn’t let up from there.

Calmly potting reds and blacks at great pace. He showed his intent with the long blue at the start of the break and the fluency has been unbelievable since then.

O’Sullivan gets over the line in the fame and then sets about trying to make a century. He’s a little short of pace on the brown but a brilliant cut into the green pocket keeps it going. He completes a brilliant total clearance of 107!

A solid enough start from Zhou but he breaks down on 27 as an attempted split on the pack of reds fails to release one to pot.

O’Sullivan then pulls out a lovely long pot from a red in the centre of the table to the right corner before cutting a long blue up into the green pocket! A superb pot and he’s in again here with a chance to score big.

Frame two and Zhou pulls out a nice long pot on the red to the left corner almost immediately. Can he wash away the pain of the first frame with a big break here?

What a clearance from Ronnie O’Sullivan! It didn’t look on when he came to the table but he makes swift work of the colours, even a potentially triky green along the top cushion and a blue across the table to right middle.

A SUBLIME BREAK OF 67 AND RONNIE O’SULLIVAN PINCHES FRAME ONE FROM UNDER ZHOU YUELONG’S NOSE!

Double-kiss on the safety attempt from Zhou gives O’Sullivan another chance to gt some points on the board. Some nice pots get him to 17 but he lands too straight on the black to try and disturb the reds on the left cushion.

He tries an incredibly thin cut to the left corner and makes it! Great shot. The next is even better though as he powers the pink to right middle and comes all round the table, off three cushions and dislodges one of the reds.

The clearance is on now as he narrows his deficit to 55-48 once potting the final red with black.
