Usher headlines half-time show at Super Bowl LVIII
Usher celebrated both his past and present when he headlined the Super Bowl 2024 halftime show on (11 February) at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
The R&B singer headlined the musical extravaganza with a troupe of dancers and special guests, performing some of his biggest hits from the past two decades, in between one of the most nail-biting games in recent memory.
Taylor Swift was there with friends, including Blake Lively and Lana Del Rey, to cheer on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as his team beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime. The pair shared a romcom-worthy kiss after the Chiefs scored a touchdown and won the game.
Meanwhile, Del Rey was “trampled on” after being knocked over while the VIP guests celebrated the Chiefs’ victory, which was attended by other famous faces including Sir Paul McCartney and Leonardo DiCaprio.
It was a successful night for the Chiefs – and Swift’s PR machine – but Kelce has faced criticism after shoving his Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid in a furious exchange.

Super Bowl streaker
Yes, there was a streaker that ran onto the field in the middle of the Super Bowl. But, to avoid giving streakers the attention they are likely seeking, most broadcasters refuse to show the kerfuffle.
However don’t worry, several videos of the incident were caught by fans in the stands. The half-naked man can be seen running across the field mid-play before he’s chased down by a number of security people.

By contrast, The Independent’s Mark Beaumont was less impressed. In his three-star review, Beaumont wrote that “in the end, Usher’s show seems like a fun, half-memorable mess. But, with the likes of Justin Bieber, Paul McCartney and Lana Del Rey watching on from the luxury boxes, it could have shifted so many more tour tickets”.
