After nearly 3 years of dating, they tied the knot on July 26, 2003, at New York’s St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. She published her book titled When Life Gives You Pears: The Healing Power of Family, Faith, and Funny People on October 1, 2019. Her book debuted on The New York Times bestseller list upon its release.
She was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor known as papilloma of the choroid plexus on April 14, 2017. The tumor turned out to be as big as a pear and was successfully operated on at Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital over a 9-hour-long surgery. Jeannie’s left vocal fold was paralyzed post surgery and she had to undergo type 1 thyroplasty in 2019 to restore her voice.
She co-wrote several of Jim’s acclaimed comedy specials such as Jim Gaffigan: King Baby (2009), Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe (2012), Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed (2014), Jim Gaffigan: Cinco (2017), and Jim Gaffigan: Noble Ape (2018).
Jeannie and Jim delivered the commencement address at the Catholic University of America in May 2016. The duo also delivered the commencement address at Jeannie’s alma mater Marquette University on May 20, 2018. Furthermore, they both received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree as part of the graduation ceremony.
She received the Christopher Award for writing the season 1 episode of The Jim Gaffigan Show titled ‘My Friend the Priest’ in 2016. Furthermore, she also won the 2020 Christopher Award for her book, When Life Gives You Pears.
