Death
On March 26, 2023, Ruchismita Guru, an aspiring singer-actress from Odisha, was discovered dead at her uncle’s home in Sudpara, Balangir district, Orissa. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. According to her father, she often struggled with depression when she didn’t receive work opportunities. The police report that her mother has stated that she had a heated argument with Ruchismita about the preparation of aloo paratha.
“I had asked her to cook ‘aloo paratha’ at 8 pm, but she said she would prepare it at 10 pm. Over this, we had a quarrel. Earlier on several occasions, she had attempted suicide as well,” said the deceased’s mother.
It is alleged that Ruchismita had a strained relationship with her family due to a romantic relationship. In addition, her mother disclosed that the actress had attempted suicide previously. The Bolangir town police station was notified and dispatched a team to the location where they retrieved the body. The body was sent to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
