  • He believed in dressing well at all times and is said to have owned 500 suits, 200 sports jackets, and 30 tuxedos.
  • His unforgettable evil laugh as the Joker on Batman (1966) came about by accident. After being cast as the Clown Prince of Crime, Romero had the chance to take a look at the conceptual art for the Joker’s costuming. He found the pictures to look almost absurd and gave out a playfully loud and manic laughter, which in turn, became the Joker’s signature laugh.
  • He was a close friend of the actress Joan Crawford and was lovingly called as Uncle Butch by her kids.
  • Cesar vehemently refused to shave off his mustache while playing the Joker in the 1960s series, Batman. Thus, his white clown makeup had to be applied over his mustache and is clearly visible upon close inspection.
