In the 2003 Tamil drama film ‘Well Done,’ she played the protagonist ‘Thamarai,’ a modern girl who likes teasing men with her four friends. In the same year, she appeared in the Kannada comedy-drama film Khushi.

After her marriage in 2006, she became a director of the now defunct companies B. G. C. International, B. G. C. Properties, B. G. C. Tab Motels, and B. G. C. Developers Pvt Ltd, her husband’s companies. In 2019, she established TIME kids preschool in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. However, in 2021, she announced her intentions to sell the preschool on her Facebook account. In 2022, she started working as a makeup artist in Bangalore. She runs an Instagram page titled ‘Get Gorgeous with Chythrra,’ where she takes bookings and regularly posts pictures of her work.

Controversy
FIR Against Father-in-law and Husband (2022)
In May 2022, she lodged an FIR against her father-in-law, MK Potaraju, and husband, Balaji Pothraj, with Jayalakshmipuram police in Mysore after accusing them of misusing her bank account in South Indian Bank. Her complaint stated that the duo had taken a gold loan on her account without her knowledge. Furthermore, the Branch manager of the bank had also conspired with the accused. The police booked the duo under IPC Sections 468, 406, 409, 420, 506, and 34. In the aftermath of her complaint, she also alleged that she was receiving life threats from her father-in-law and husband. Previously, in 2021, after Balaji Pothraj filed for a divorce from her, she registered an FIR against him for domestic violence. In June 2022, the Karnataka High Court stayed the FIR after senior advocate MS Shyam Sundar, appearing for Pothraj and his father, argued that Chaitra lodged a false complaint when Balaji Pothraj filed a divorce case against her.
