  • His father was a victim of alcoholism which eventually led to his parents legally parting ways when he was quite young. After this, Colin and his sister were mostly brought up by their mother.
  • As a child, Colin was a loner and would oftentimes sit on the roof of his home listening to baseball commentary on the radio.
  • He was on his high school football team as a quarterback and on the basketball team as an All-Far West Conference guard.
  • At Eastern Washington University, he shared a room with football player and coach Jim McElwain.
  • One of his earliest jobs was the play-by-play voice for the Las Vegas Stars of the San Diego Padres Triple-A. Later, he went on to become the sports director at KVBC in Las Vegas and was named Nevada’s Sportscaster of the Year on five different occasions by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
  • He relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1996, and started working as the sports anchorman for KGW-TV.
