During his high school years, he played wide receiver and quarterback for the school’s football team. As a senior, he was able to play only one game due to an ankle injury.

In the year 2015, Dawson Knox joined the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) as a walk-on fullback and played until 2018, recording 39 receptions for 605 yards.

He decided to enter the 2019 NFL Draft, forgoing his senior year, after his junior season in 2018.

He was picked by the Buffalo Bills in the third round with the 96th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and signed his rookie contract with the team on June 14, 2019.

Playing for the Buffalo Bills, he caught his first NFL touchdown from Josh Allen in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 on September 22, 2019.

Dawson Knox’s rookie season was marked with many ups and downs as he caught 28 of 50 targets for 388 yards and two touchdowns.

After testing positive for COVID-19, he was placed by the Bills on the reserve/COVID-19 list on October 24, 2020, and was later activated on November 5.

He caught two passes for five yards, including a two-yard touchdown from Josh Allen in the first quarter of the Buffalo Bills‘ eventual 27–24 Wild Card Round victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Dawson Knox scored six catches for 42 yards and a touchdown during the Buffalo Bills‘ 38–24 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

He signed a four-year $53.6 million extension with the Buffalo Bills on September 7, 2022, and the deal made him one of the top-paid tight ends in the league.

Dawson Knox went on to finish the 2022 season with 48 receptions for 517 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.

He has partnered with P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, an organization founded by former Bills punter Brian Moorman, and has supported the organization through various initiatives.
