Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was born on 21 February 1896 in Medinipur district of Mahishadal princely state of West Bengal. His father Pandit Ramsahay was a government official. At the same time, his mother died three years after the birth of Suryakant Tripathi ji, after which he was raised by his father.
Suryakant Tripathi was a promising and serious child from childhood, who did his early education in Bengal. After passing 10th, he used to stay at home and read Sanskrit, English literature etc. After high school, he came to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Let me tell you that the grip of Suryakant Tripathi ji was not only but also in English, Bengali and Sanskrit language, he was very good.
He used to participate in sports as well as sports activities during his school days. Not only this, he had a special interest in writing poems as well as music. It is also said about him that he did not have much interest in his studies as a child, so his father used to treat him strictly.

Even in this difficult situation, he worked as a proof reader with many publishers and took care of his well-to-do family. However, during this time he also faced all the financial troubles.

Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, one of the 4 pillars of the Chhayawadi era, served his first job from 1918 to 1922, serving the Mahishadal state for nearly four years. He then became involved with works such as editing, independent writing and translation. For about 1 year until 1923, he worked in “Samardhan” published from Kolkata.
During this time he also served on the board of editors of “Matwala”. Then he got his posting in Ganga book mala office in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh and he was associated with the monthly magazine “Sudha” coming out of this institution till 1935.
From 1942 till the last moment of his life, he lived in Allahabad and lived here he did independent writing and translation work. During this time, he wrote many such compositions, due to which he not only got the status of a high poet literature, but he is considered one of the four major pillars of Shadowism literature.

According to one story, when Nirala ji reached Allahabad on the day of Rakshabandhan between 1950 and 1951, he did not have money to give to the rickshawman, after which he stopped at the door of his sister Mahadevi Varma ji and asked for 12 rupees, near which he 2 rupees were given to the rickshaw and the remaining ten rupees were given to Mahadevi Varma ji to tie rakhi. In this way, he tied Rakhi Rakhi on Rakhi day by taking money from his sister.
Not only this, Nirala ji had also given the title of “Saraswati of the huge temple” to the great poet Mahadevi Varma.
