Hemant Mahaur was born on Wednesday, 18 August 1976 (age 46 years; as of 2022) in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac is Leo. He studied Science, with a specialisation in biology, but eventually dropped out to pursue LLB at Meerut University. From 1994-95, he attended a one-year diploma course in theatre from the Sriram Center in New Delhi. He holds a postgraduate degree in Dramatic Arts. Hemant is an alumnus of the National School of Drama in New Delhi, where he specialised in acting from 1995 to 1998.

Career

During his college days, he worked as an intern under the theatre activists Panchanan Patak and Lalit Mohan Thapaliyal, where he got the opportunity to work as an actor from 1989 to 1994 in Delhi.

Actor

Hemant’s father used to take him and his mother to watch Hindi films, almost every Sunday. He grew up watching the classic films of Indian cinema and thus decided to take up acting as a profession.

Theatre

Between 1989 and 1994 he performed in many plays and in theatre festivals like the Nandikar theatre festival in Calcutta, Ipta festival in Patna, and in Jabalpur, etc. During his days at the National School of Drama, Hemant performed in a play, Dragon, which was directed by Prasanna Heggodu Vols Handle.

Film

Hemant made his acting debut with the film “Shool” in 1999. He acted in the Bafta award-winning and oscar nominated Hindi film ‘The Warrior’ (2001) and the National award film “Swaraj The Little Republic.’ In the 2012 animated film ‘Arjun: The Worrier Prince,’ Hemant was the dubbing artist for the character of Duryodhana. In Ram Chandran PN’s feature film, Haal-E-Kangaal, Hemant played the role of a struggling filmmaker named Lokesh Sharma.
