Jack Perry Facts
Ever since he was a child, he was a fan of professional wrestling and attended WWE’s 2009 SummerSlam pay-per-view event with his father when he was twelve years old.
In 2015, Jack Perry started his career on the independent circuit and made his professional wrestling debut at Underground Empire Wrestling’s, 2015 West Coast Cruiser Cup under the ring name “Nate Coy”. It was during this event that he received the name “Jungle Boy” when the crowd chanted it at him due to his similarities to Tarzan.
He emerged as the winner of the 2016 West Coast Cruiser Cup on November 20, 2016.
He went on to win the All-Pro Wrestling Junior Heavyweight Championship on August 17, 2018. This was his first professional wrestling championship.
Along with fellow independent wrestler Luchasaurus, Jack Perry formed a tag team dubbed “A Boy and His Dinosaur” in February 2019.
In a tribute match for his late father, he defeated his father’s friend, actor, and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion David Arquette in May 2019.
Under the Jungle Boy name, Jack Perry signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in January 2019. With the promotion, he made his AEW debut at the company’s inaugural event Double or Nothing on May 25 as he competed in the pre-show Casino Battle Royale. However, he was eliminated by Jimmy Havoc.
In a four-way match in June 2019, he wrestled Jimmy Havoc, Adam Page, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Adam Page won the match.
Jack Perry teamed with Luchasaurus against Angélico and Jack Evans and The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) in a three-way tag team match at Fight for the Fallen on July 13, 2019. The Dark Order won the match.
He went on to compete in the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale on the November 20, 2019, episode of the professional wrestling television program Dynamite. He lost the fight.
Along with Luchasaurus, he competed in the Casino Tag Team Royale at the Revolution event on March 7, 2021, but they failed to win.
With Luchasaurus, he defeated the Lucha Brothers to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship on the January 5, 2022, episode of Dynamite.
Jack Perry faced Seiya Sanada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door on June 25, 2023, but lost the match.
His Jungle Boy character has been described as a “Tarzan-esque character, complete with his mane of long curls, loin cloth-like shorts and a heavy dose of leopard print.” Initially, he had considered the gimmick as “really dumb” but he eventually changed his mind after seeing “how people liked it”.
He has used the 1985 song Tarzan Boy by Baltimora as his entrance music.
