Kollam Sudhi (1984-2023) was an Indian mimicry artist and actor, who mainly worked in Malayalam films & TV serials. On 5 June 2023, his car met with a major accident in Thrissur, Kerala. He died in the accident while his friends who were travelling with him in the car, suffered major injuries.

Family

Parents & Siblings

His father, Shivdasna Sudhi, was a revenue inspector at Cochin Corporation. His mother’s name is Gomathi. He had an elder brother, a sister, and a younger brother. His younger brother, Subhash, had passed away.

Wife & Children

From his first wife, he had a son named Rahul. After a few years of his divorce, he met Renu. After dating for a few years, Kollam got married to Renu. Kollam had a son named Rithul from his second wife.

Career

At the age of 16, he started performing comic acts in various stage shows and skits organised at various regional festivals.

Film

In 2015, he made his debut in Malayalam films with the film ‘Kanthari’ in which he played a small role. He then acted in a few other Malayalam films like ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’ (2016), ‘Kuttanadan Marpappa’ (2018), ‘Theetta Rappai’ (2018), ‘Big Brother’ (2020), and ‘Escape’ (2022).

Television

Kollam gained immense popularity as a comedian in various TV shows like ‘Kerala Cafe’ (2017; Asianet), ‘Comedy Nights with Suraj’ (2019; Zee Keralam), and ‘Star Comedy Magic’ (2022; Flowers).

Death

On 5 June 2023, he passed away in a tragic car accident in Thrissur, Kerala. The car that he was driving collided with a truck at Kaipamangalam at around 4:30 am. His friends named Ullas Aroor, Binu Adimali, and Mahesh, who were also travelling with him, sustained severe injuries.  Later, while addressing the media, the local police said,
It was a head-on collision. All of them were taken to the hospital but Sudhi lost his life. The other three are undergoing treatment.”

Facts/Trivia

  • He was lovingly called Sudhi, Kollam Sudi, and Sudhi Chetta by his family and friends.
  • On a particular episode of the Malayalam channel Flowers TV’s ‘Star Magic,’ there was a segment in which the mimicry artiste Azeez Nedumangad shared a story from the early days of his career, when he and Sudhi, his companion, faced financial difficulties. He said that they couldn’t afford bus tickets to travel to various locations for their stage performances. As a result, they had to rely on parcel lorries to reach their destinations. It was a challenging time for them, but they persevered and continued pursuing their passion for mimicry.
