Komal Zanzad is an Indian cricketer who plays as a bowler for the Indian Women’s national cricket team. A right-hand batswoman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler, Komal plays for Vidarbha Women at the domestic level. On 13 February 2023, during the auctions of the inaugural Women’s Premier League, she was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 25 lakhs.

An average student, Komal pursued her graduation in mechanical engineering at GH Raisoni College of Engineering. In childhood, Komal used to watch the boys playing cricket in her colony and formed a liking for the sport. She grew up shattering the window panes of her neighbours while playing gully cricket in her locality. Soon, she found her love for pace bowling and enrolled at a summer camp at Shree Binzani City College ground, where she was trained under the coach Dalvi. She was 13 years old at that time and was the only girl at the camp. Thereafter she trained under Baba Rocque Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) ground. She also trained at Mujumdar ground for a while. Komal gave a magnificent performance at the One-Day tournament organised by the Vidarbha Women’s Cricket Association (VWCA) and made her place in the VCA camp. At the camp, Komal practised under the guidance of coaches, trainers, and dieticians, which improved her overall worth and cricketing acumen.

Komal Zanzad made her debut for Vidarbha women’s cricket team when she was 15 years old. She made headlines after pulling nine wickets for eight runs in the 2018–19 Senior Women’s One Day League match against Haryana; Vidarbha women dismissed Haryana Women for 31 runs in 18.4 overs. It was the turning point in her career.

After her impressive performance in the 2018–19 Senior Women’s One Day League, Komal was named in the India Red squad for the 2018–19 Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy. Komal has shown tremendous character against tough domestic sides like Punjab Women and Andhra Pradesh Women.

International

In 2019, Komal Zanzad took three wickets for fourteen runs in seven overs while she played for Indian Board President’s Women’s XI side against England during a 50 overs warm-up match. Her performance in the match impressed the selectors, who named her in India’s Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) squad for their series against England in February 2019. Zanzad was one of the two players from Vidarbha women to be selected for the national team. The other one is Bharti Fulmali. She has also played for India A Women and India C Women.
