Max Homa is an American professional golfer who has primarily plied his trade on the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) Tour (the main professional golf tour in the United States and North America). On the PGA Tour, as of May 2023, he had won the Wells Fargo Championship (May 2019), the Genesis Invitational (February 2021), the Fortinet Championship (September 2021), the Wells Fargo Championship (May 2022), the Fortinet Championship (September 2022), and the Farmers Insurance Open (January 2023). As of May 2023, Max’s best performance at a major championship was a 13th-place (tied) finish at the 2022 edition of the PGA Championship. He had also finished in joint 6th place at the 2023 edition of The Players Championship, a prestigious annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour that is often dubbed as the 5th major – the 4 majors being The Masters Tournament, The Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open.   • Max, in his senior year (2012-13) at The University of California, Berkeley, was included in the ‘First Team All-Pac-12‘. The Pac-12 Conference is an athletic conference that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports in the NCAA‘s Division I – the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association – a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico) in the United States.
  • He also won the Pac-12 Championship that season which included an opening-round 9-under-par score of 61. The score broke the course record at the North Course of The Los Angeles Country Club, a golf and country club located in Los Angeles, California. It also tied the then record for the lowest round posted in the United States.
  • For his performances in the 2012-13 season, Max was named in the ‘First Team All-American’ as well as the ‘All-Nicklaus Team’ by the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America – a non-profit, professional association of men’s collegiate golf coaches). The latter selection is named after Jack Nicklaus – a retired American professional golfer and golf course designer who is widely considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time. Tommy kept that promise and made a congratulatory call when Max achieved that feat by winning the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2019. Tommy passed away in January 2021 (aged 93).
  • In 2022, Max won the Presidents Cup, a biennial series of men’s golf matches between a team representing the United States and a team representing the rest of the world minus Europe. He won all 4 of the matches that he played in the competition, the 2nd-best performance by an individual player – only behind Jordan Spieth who won all 5 of his matches.
