In 2013, he started working as a User Experience Designer at Directi in Mumbai. Along with his job, he also composed music and performed at small venues to gain experience. He did his first live music gig in 2014. In 2015, he quit his IT job and went on to pursue a Master’s in Music Production, Technology & Innovation at Berklee College of Music in Spain. In 2016, he performed at TEDxBerkleeValencia. After his stints in Europe and US, the former engineer and UX designer decided to come back to Mumbai from Los Angeles in 2017 and start afresh. While talking about his career shift in an interview, he said,
I’ve been making music and playing instruments like the piano since I was a young child. Even though I was an engineering student, I enjoyed playing music in my own time. I used to write, make music, and perform at local venues after finishing my engineering degree while working a full-time job to gain more experience. I had the aptitude, zeal, and ambition to thrive in the music industry, so several of my friends at the time encouraged me to take music more seriously. I chose to apply to the Berklee Master’s programme, and much to my amazement, I was accepted in spite of the fact that I had no prior formal music training. That was the tipping point for me.”

In 2019, he released a couple of songs, ‘Guide’ and ‘Troubled Land’ in the Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer film Bypass Road via T-Series. He has produced music for some big composers such as Vishal Dadlani, Sneha Khanwalkar, Kailash Kher, Shilpa Rao and many more indie artists. He also worked as the official music producer for the IPML’s Mumbai Team. He has scored music for many Bollywood trailers such as Dabbang 3 (2019), Baaghi 3 (2020), Guilty (2020), Gunjan Saxena (2020), Pari (2018), Mitron (2018 ), Fukrey Returns (2017 ) and web series such as Breathe (2018), and Hear me Love me (2018), Bandish Bandits (2020). Although he was doing odd remixes and launchpad videos since 2014, he garnered popularity for his quirky social media posts related to music on social media in 2020. Amid the Covid-19 lockdown, he created several viral mashups on social media like Babu Babu, Kesariya Tony Kakkar Version, Chori Patata Hai, and Mujhe Drugs Do feat. Arnab Goswami. His first meme mis was an experiment in which he added beats to Arnab Goswami’s dramatic announcement of the banning of Chinese apps in India, which went viral on the internet. While talking about the same in an interview, he said,
I started putting comical posts on my page rather than just showing off my singing prowess. Around the time TikTok was banned in India and Reels was picking up, I took an Arnab Goswami dialogue and mixed it with a beat. I thought it would make my then-less than 2k followers smile. The next day, it was everywhere.”

Amidst the most polarised US elections in 2020, Mayur created a mashup extracted from Trump’s multiple debates and mixed them with snatches from his speech to create a video titled “Vivekamunand Mix feat Trump,” featuring US President’s bizarre mispronunciation of the Hindu spiritual figure.

In 2021, his meme mix Jalebi Baby 90’s version went viral on Instagram. He used Tesher’s hit number ‘Jalebi Baby’ in addition to the dialogue “Sab gussa karte hai, main ghar chhod ke jaa raha hu ” from an old Dhara Oil advertisement for the meme.

The audio was widely used by dog parents to show their fur babies who decide to leave home when they’re sad about being scolded. The content of Jumani’s clips has been diverse which includes dialogues from Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma (“Nimbu Pani feat Bapuji”), exaggerated spiels by primetime news anchors, Rakhi Sawant’s Insta rants, etc. Soon, the whole thing became so successful that Mayur took up content creation and the music production and composition work full time. In January 2022, he founded the audio production house Aux Media.
