Glastonbury regular reveals best clothing to take to festivals and what to avoid
The gates to Glastonbury 2023 have now opened, with Michael and Emily Eavis officially launching the start of this year’s festival.
Thousands of music fans will flood the fields of Worthy Farm, Somerset, and set up camp for the next five nights, to see headliners Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John, along with hundreds of other artists.
The weather for this year’s festival is predicted to be a mixture of sun and rain, after a month’s worth of rain fell in the UK last weekend.
Forecasters say higher temperatures of 27C could be reached later in the week, but the first few days are currently expected to be grey, with some rain and highs of 23C.
Live coverage of Glastonbury Festival 2023 will be aired by the BBC across TV, BBC Radio, Sounds and iPlayer. This year, the broadcaster has also launched a brand new channel, Pyramid Stage – Signed, which will feature British Sign Language performances of every show on the main stage.

Arctic Monkeys call off Dublin show days before Glastonbury prompting cancellation fears
Arctic Monkeys have cancelled a gig days before Glastonbury, prompting fears they’ll pull out of the festival.
The Sheffield quartet, led by Alex Turner, are midway through a world tour and, after three days at London’s Emirates Stadium, were set to play Marlay Park in Dublin on Tuesday (20 June).
However, a statement released via the band’s official social media accounts on Monday (19 June) revealed that the band have been forced to cancel the show as Turner is suffering from acute laryngitis.
“We are extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of Arctic Monkeys’ show at Marlay Park in Dublin tomorrow,” it read.
“Alex is suffering from acute laryngitis, and following medical advice, has been ordered to rest.”

Glastonbury has abandoned its roots, and it desperately needs them back
Somewhere along the line, the festival traded lawless anarchy for stockbrokers speed-dialling their dealers from luxury yurts. But Glastonbury veteran Mark Beaumont thinks the event doesn’t need to sacrifice its counter-cultural history to embrace relevance and modernity.

Glastonbury cancels screening of Jeremy Corbyn film booked ‘in good faith’
Glastonbury Festival has said that it stands “against all forms of discrimination” after cancelling a screening of a film about former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Titled Oh, Jeremy Corbyn: The Big Lie and produced by Platform Films, the film was due to be shown at the arts festival’s Pilton Palais cinema on Sunday (25 June).
The film aims to challenge accusations of antisemitism made against Corbyn throughout his political career, claiming to “explore a dark and murky story of political deceit and outrageous antisemitic smears”.
It is narrated by left-wing Jewish comedian Alexei Sayle, and features contributions from writer Jackie Walker and filmmaker Ken Loach.
However, after the Board of Deputies of British Jews (BDBJ) expressed “deep concern” over the film, Glastonbury announced on Monday (19 June) that Oh, Jeremy Corbyn would no longer be screened at the event.
