However, it was only recently that I spoke to her on the phone and expressed my desire to meet her. I went to Pune to meet her and the moment I saw her, I fell in love with her. Before marrying Tina Kakkar, Romiit Raaj got engaged to television actress Shilpa Shinde. However, the marriage was called off by Shilpa Shinde. In an interview, when Shilpa Shinde’s mother was asked about Shilpa Shinde and Romiit Raaj’s broken engagement, she opened up saying that Shilpa was facing problems with Romiit’s family. She said,
Romiit had proposed to her. And my daughter had accepted his proposal because he was a good person. Both of them decided to get married. But after some time they realized that their opinions are very different. In fact, both of their families are also very different. And it is very obvious that for a long-term relationship, you can’t compromise on such things. That is why my daughter decided to call off the marriage. She thought that it would be better to end the relationship now than going for a divorce later.”

It gives me immense satisfaction as an actor when there are people who are crying their hearts out at the sudden death of Varun. I am gratified with the kind of mails that I have been getting over the last few days. There are girls who say they have wept quite a lot on seeing Varun’s death. I will have to thank Dada for teaching me every nuance that Varun follows. It is only because of him that Varun as a character has been able to blossom. Also, the creative team has provided the right impact and bond between KD and Varun. This is completely a KD Pathak’s show, but to see the amount of love that Varun gets makes me happy.”

- In 2021, he changed his name from Romit Raj Parashar to ‘Romiit Raaj’. In an interview, he talked about this and said,
I believe in numbers and vibes and thus Numerology was one way through which I could bring in changes. I thought this was one way in bring some positivity can be brought in. The numerologist asked me to make changes in my name and also suggested a few hashtags changes for social media as well. I really hope all this works out well.” - He follows a non-vegetarian diet.

- In an interview, Romiit Raaj revealed his #METoo story, which occurred ten years ago during his early days in the entertainment industry. He recalled that a creative director invited him into a Bandra coffee shop and later urged him to “do whatever (that manner) which will make him acquire a good role.” He further explained,
I have heard of people compromising but since I don’t interact with such people I have never been in their group. I have worked in my career on my terms and conditions. I completely believe in hard work and professionalism. Once a creative director met me at a coffee shop in Bandra and he tried to tell me how I need to jump off boundaries and should be ready to do anything for a good role. He even stated that he meets so many people for work so how will he remember me if I am not ready to open up?. This happened to me in the initial days of my career I am talking about 10 years back. After the incident I got up from there and thanked that person for the meeting.
