Ramsdale back in Arsenal training before UCL trip to Sevilla
Arsenal seemed to be in control of Group B following a convincing win over PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League opener but a shock 2-1 defeat to Lens at the start of October has left them with work to do to secure a place in the knockout rounds.
Tonight they travel to Spain for the first of two consecutive matches against Sevilla which could determine whether Mikel Arteta’s side reach the next stage of the competition or not.
The Europa League champions have two points from their opening two games but should they defeat the Gunners in Spain and at the Emirates, Arteta’s side will be on the brink of an early exit.
Sevilla’s head coach, Diego Alonso, replaced Jose Luis Mendilibar during the international break due to Sevilla’s poor domestic record this year and earned his team a 1-1 home draw against Real Madrid on Saturday. Can he cause a similar upset against Arsenal this evening?

Sevilla vs Arsenal
Arsenal last lost back-to-back group stage matches in the Champions League in 2015/16 which were the opening two games of that campaign.
They did still qualify for the knockout stages on that occasion but will be hoping to avoid a similar run of results this year.

Mikel Arteta on learning lessons from Lens defeat
Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, explained how his team has adapted from the defeat to Lens in their last Champions League outing.
“There were a few [lessons] from that game, especially that in the Champions League you cannot give anything away.” He said, “Both boxes are tremendously important to have control of the game, and there are going to be moments that can get away very quickly.
“You have to understand why this is happening and how the game went away from us, but there was a lot in our side. To lose the game the way we did, even though looking about two times, we didn’t deserve that result.”

Pre-match thoughts from Diego Alonso
Having signed on to manage Sevilla during the most recent international break Diego Alonso is looking forward to tonight’s encounter saying:
“Having not won in the two opening games of the competition, we need a win. Tomorrow we have that opportunity and we are ready for it. We’ll have to work our socks off for the whole 90 minutes. We’re facing a great team, but we’re ready.
“Motivating others should be organic. We are fully focused on tomorrow’s game on tomorrow’s game only. We will do our best to claim the three points. We are going to play as if it were a final.”

Sevilla vs Arsenal
Arsenal are looking to win their first Champions League away game since December 2016 when they defeated Basel 4-1. They have lost five of their last six away games to Spanish sides with one win breaking up that run.
However, Sevilla have only been victorious in two of their last nine home games in this competition so could be the team Arsenal need to play to get back to winning ways.

Focus on goalkeeping battle is strange says Aaron Ramsdale
Aaron Ramsdale feels it is “strange” how much attention is being paid to his battle with David Raya to be Arsenal number one – but admits he fears for his England future if he does not win it.
The 25-year-old signed a new contract last season but has found himself on the bench after summer signing Raya broke into the side and has started just once – a Carabao Cup win at Brentford – since mid-September.
Ramsdale picked up his fourth senior England cap in the 3-1 friendly win away to Scotland last month but was an unused substitute in the recent victories over Australia and Italy.
