Film
Shanthanu’s first film was when he was 12 years old and acted in Vaettiya Madichu Kattu (1998), which was written, directed and whose lead actor is his father, Bhagyaraj.

His next project was as an assistant director to his father for his sister’s debut film, Parijatham (2006). Finally, in 2008 he starred in his first film as a lead in Sakkarakatti (2008) which received mixed reviews from critics who deemed him to be a promising actor . Though his acting wasn’t hailed, the Filmfare Awards presented him with an award for Best Male Debut Actor. Next, he made his debut in Mollywood with Angel John (2009), acting alongside veteran actor Mohanlal, another movie that received mixed reviews and did not perform particularly well.

He also acted in Kandaen (2011), Vaaimai (2016), Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga (2017), Mupparimanam (2017) and in the short film KoCoNaKa (2020). His recent film Raavana Kottam (2023) has received mixed reviews from harsh critics and supportive fans.

His experience in Television is limited to him being a judge on reality television shows in Malayalam and Tamil. He has judged competition-based reality shows Let’s Dance Season 2 & 3 (2015) in Malayalam and Dance Jodi Dance Season 2 (2018) in Tamil.
