He served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1993.

Si and his siblings grew up in severely impoverished conditions wherein they were deprived of basic amenities such as electricity, toilet, and a bathtub.

For his appearance in Duck Dynasty, he received a nomination in the ‘Choice TV: Male Reality/Variety Star’ category at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.

Si published his debut book titled Si-cology 1: Tales and Wisdom from Duck Dynasty’s Favorite Uncle in 2013. The book became a runaway success and grew his popularity even further. He followed it up by publishing Uncle Si the Christmas Elf: Work Hard, Nap Hard in 2014 and Si-renity: How I Stay Calm and Keep the Faith in 2016.
