Suchika Tariyal is an Indian female Judo player who has participated in various competitions. She is an employee of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She has appeared in reality shows as a participant.

Suchika Tariyal was born on Thursday, 16 August 1990 (age 32 years; as of 2022)  in Delhi, India. She hails from Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, India. Her zodiac sign is Leo. She went to DAV Public School in Dehradun. She studied at Delhi University. When she was 12 years old, she went to a barbershop for a haircut. The barber misbehaved with her. After this incident, she decided to take self-defence classes in any combat sport. She started learning Judo. Later, she participated in many national tournaments and represented India in many international competitions. In 2013, she started working in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and worked as Head Constable in CISF in 2022.

Her father’s name is Rajender Singh Tariyal. She has 3 sisters, named Sneha, Suchika, Shalini, and Taivitha. Her sisters are also judo players. Sneha works in Uttarakhand police, Shalini is a Judo coach, and Taivitha works in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Her husband’s name is Kapil Hooda. He belongs to Kaloi village in Rohtak, Haryana. He is a graduate of YMCA Institute of Engineering, Faridabad, Haryana, and works in Maruti Suzuki Limited, Gurgaon, Haryana.

Career

She started competing in state-level Judo competitions in 2007 and won a medal in the first competition. She has played in the under 48 kg category and the 57 kg category. She secured 7th place in the World Cup in 2011 in Almata, Kazakhstan. She participated in the World Championships in 2011 in Paris. She participated in the 7th South Asia Judo Championships in 2014 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. She participated in the All India Police Judo Cluster Championship in 2016. She trained at the National Institute of Sports Patiala. After her marriage, she started training in Delhi under the coach Vikram Solanki. She participated in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2012 held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in the Senior National Judo Championship in February 2014 in Himachal Pradesh, in the Senior National Judo Championship in December 2014 held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, in the 35th National Games in 2015 held in Kerala, in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2015 held in Chandigarh, and in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2017 held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She competed in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2018 held in Jammu, in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2019 held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and in the Senior National Rankings Judo Championship in 2019 held in Delhi. She participated in the 13th South Asian Games in 2019 held in Nepal and the Commonwealth Judo Championship in 2019 held in Great Britain. She competed in the Senior National Judo Championships Senior Men and Women in 2022 held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat. She participated in the 2022 Commonwealth games held in Birmingham, UK; however, she lost in the Bronze medal match.

  • She likes to ride motorcycles.

  • Her grandmother did not approve of her Judo training in her childhood; however, her father supported her decision to train in Judo style of fighting.
  • During an open Judo championship, she injured her hand. The doctor advised her bed rest for the injury to heal. However, she wanted to play in the National Championship, so she left for the training camp in Bhopal with only Rs100 in her pocket. Later, she won a silver medal in the National Championship.
  • She suffered an injury to her right hand in the show India’s Ultimate warriors. The doctor advised her surgery; however, that would have meant that she could not play for 4-5 months. She continued to practice with a sling in her right hand and her hand healed naturally. Later, she participated in the Commonwealth games trials.
