Arrested for Running a Sex Racket
In April 2023, the Mumbai Police arrested Suman at a hotel in Goregaon, Mumbai. She was detained for running a prostitution racket in Mumbai. She used to work as a middleman in providing girls to customers. According to sources, the police’s social service branch conducted a raid at the hotel and busted the prostitution racket. Earlier, the police had received information about the illicit activity taking place at the Royal Palm Hotel in Goregaon. As part of their plan, the police sent an undercover officer as a customer to the hotel. Suman struck a deal with the fake customer and told him that the charges for each model were from Rs 50000 to Rs 80000. Later, while addressing the media, the local police shared that Suman used to target those girls who had come to Mumbai in search of work. She used to forcefully involve the girls in her prostitution racket, and sometimes, she used to take advantage of their poor financial status. After arresting her, the Mumbai Police’s crime branch rescued three women from the hotel. An FIR against Suman was filed under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
