Journalist- Film Critic

Namrata Joshi is an Indian award-winning film critic. After working for the Outlook news magazine from 1999-2015, she joined the Mumbai edition of The Hindu which she announced in 2015 through a tweet saying,

She has worked with many reputed newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, The Wire (India), Al Jazeera, The Print (India), Deccan Herald, DZone, OPEN, Silverscreen India, NewsClick, National Herald India, Outlook (India), Firstpost, Mint, The Hindu, Dawn, and Khaleej Times. She has also been a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).

Author

She marked herself as an author by launching her first book ‘Reel India: Cinema off the Beaten Track’ on July 31, 2019. It is a book consisting of 250 pages in which she analysed the impact of cinema on society and what it leads to.

She has also been an author of reports on many international film festivals including ‘A Woman’s Moscow’ at the 29th Moscow International Film Festival, a report on Relationships on a Breakdown Mode in the 33rd Cairo International Film festival, ‘Woman Interrupted’ in the 38th Toronto International Film Festival, and in 10th Kerala International Film Festival.

Namrata Joshi has been a jury member in many international film festivals including the 10th Cluj Transsilvania International Film Festival, 10th Kerala International Film Festival, 29th Moscow International Film Festival, and 38th Toronto International Film Festival.
