In 2022, Sanna won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography, one of the American Pulitzer Prizes annually awarded for journalism, for her coverage of the situation of Covid-19. She shared the award with her fellow Reuters photojournalists Adnan Abidi, Amit Dave, and Danish Siddiqui (deceased).

Before this, Sanna was stopped at Delhi airport by immigration officials from travelling to Paris for a book launch and photography exhibition.
