Ward Bond attended East High School, a historical public high school located in the City Park neighborhood on the east side of Denver, Colorado. He also studied at the Colorado School of Mines.
He got enrolled at the University of Southern California and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in 1931. During his time at the University of Southern California, he played football on the same team with future USC coach Jess Hill and was a starting lineman on USC’s first national-championship team in 1928.
