Anand Mahindra was born on 1 May 1955 in Mumbai, Maharashtra into a well-known and accomplished business family. His father’s name was Harish Mahindra and mother’s name was Indira Mahindra. In 1977, he received his undergraduate education from the ‘Department of Visual and Environmental Studies’, Harvard College (Cambridge, Massachusetts), USA. In 1981, he received his postgraduate (MBA) education in ‘Business Administration’ from ‘Harvard Business School’ (HBS), Boston, Massachusetts. Later, he was married to Anuradha Mahindra, from whom he has two daughters. Wife Anuradha is editor of famous magazines ‘Verve’ and ‘Men’s World’ and editor-in-chief of ‘Rolling Stone India’.

After receiving his MBA education, Anand Mahindra returned to India in the year 1981 and started the ‘Mahindra Use Steel Company’ here.
